Intro to quantum computing, its principles, limits, and impact on cybersecurity and post-quantum readiness.

Speaker

Professor Hassan Chizari

Agenda

6:30pm - Talk by Hassan Chizari
7:30pm - Questions and answers
7:45pm - Event ends

Synopsis

This talk will introduce quantum computing, explaining what quantum computing actually is, how it differs from classical computing, and why it matters for the UK’s digital and technological future.

It will cover key ideas such as qubits, superposition, entanglement, quantum hardware, current limitations, and the implications for cryptography, including post-quantum security and organisational readiness.

The central message is that quantum computing is not magic and will not replace classical computing, but it is an important emerging technology that IT professionals and organisations need to understand and prepare for.
