Synopsis

The BCS South Yorkshire branch will be holding its 2026 annual general meeting, followed by a talk from Dr Gregory Meyers - The cutting edge AI systems powering TreeStock. Talk summary: "Measuring trees has always been manual, subjective and impossible to scale. TreeStock is changing that. On a mission to transform how the world’s trees are managed, TreeStock fuses multiple cutting-edge technologies to build a digital twin of every individual tree, across entire forests. Drone-mounted sensors capture the forest in extraordinary detail, then a stack of AI models take over at every stage: finding every tree, separating it from its neighbours, reconstructing it in 3D, measuring it with precision and identifying its species. Every tree gets its own identity, tracked survey after survey, so the true impact of every management decision can finally be measured. Gregory will lift the lid on the state-of-the-art AI systems TreeStock has developed to make it all possible, from drone flight to finished dataset.
