Synopsis

Artificial intelligence is changing software quality from a largely reactive activity into a continuous, intelligent assurance process. This session examines how AI can support quality across requirements, development, testing, deployment, and production, while also addressing the new assurance challenges introduced by AI-enabled and agentic systems.

Session Description AI is increasingly being embedded throughout the software development lifecycle, creating opportunities to improve quality while simultaneously introducing new forms of technical and operational risk. This session explores how AI can assist quality engineering across requirements analysis, code review, test generation, defect prediction, continuous testing, production monitoring, and incident response. It also examines the additional assurance challenges that arise when the software itself contains AI components capable of making decisions or taking autonomous actions.

The session will discuss practical approaches to continuous assurance, evaluation, observability, governance, human oversight, and risk-based controls, with an emphasis on how organisations can move beyond reactive testing toward quality engineering that operates continuously across the lifecycle.

Key Takeaways:

  • How AI can improve quality activities across requirements, development, testing, deployment, and production.
  • Where AI-assisted testing and intelligent assurance provide practical value - and where human judgement remains essential.
  • How to evaluate and assure AI-enabled and agentic systems that may behave probabilistically or take autonomous actions.
  • How observability, governance, continuous evaluation, and risk-based controls support reliable production AI.
  • How quality teams can evolve from reactive defect detection toward continuous intelligent assurance.
