Synopsis
Mark Webster will retrace his interest in the ReCode project, sharing work undertaken with his students but also anecdotes that have become guiding principles as well as food for thought. The concept was simple: choose a computer art work and reconstruct the work using a modern-day programming language.
Mark contacted a prominent pioneer in the field to share his experience of ‘recoding’ with his students. The project sought to raise awareness of the little-known history of computer art.
About the speaker
Mark Webster is an artist working in various media and practices. He is a teacher of creative coding and generative graphic design and has been teaching at ESAD d'Amiens since 2012. His latest published work, entitled Hyper & Cosmic, presents two artistic works exploring the generative space of typography, text, and language at large.
