We are looking for a Brand Manager whowill be responsible for promoting and championing our brand purpose and mission. They will deliver an integrated programme of marketing activity that attracts new and existing audiences to see and engage with our brand - building awareness, engagement, advocacy and influence.
Role responsibilities:
- Develop a deep understanding of BCS’ customers, market, and value propositions. Analyse customer trends and behaviours and apply segmentation and customer insight to profile audience types accordingly.
- Recommend and implement short and medium-term programmes of activity, delivered via multiple channels, that build brand awareness, engagement and advocacy, supports achievement of business objectives and enhances the overall brand experience for members and non-members.
- Brand Identity Management - Own and refine the brand’s visual and verbal identity, ensuring consistency across all internal and external touchpoints. Manage and evolve brand guidelines and templates in line with strategic growth objectives.
- Tone of Voice & Messaging - Develop and maintain a clear, consistent tone of voice that resonates with our audience. Collaborate with content creators, copywriters, and external partners to apply the voice across campaigns, digital channels, and customer communications.
- Campaign Development and Creative Oversight –Act as the lead in cross functional team for BCS brand campaign delivery -support and oversee brand integration across marketing campaigns and customer experience. Guide creative direction and approve assets to ensure consistency and impact across the organisation including Community and Marketing managers to self serve where appropriate and guidance when required.
- Social Media Strategy – In partnership with marketing managers develop and execute a multi-platform social media strategy. Aligning closely with the BCS Content Strategy – content will be: audience focused, engaging, and performance-driven. Partner with marketing managers, content and policy teams to maintain a strong, presence on channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, X, that supports the wider business objectives and revenue attainment.
- Ensure brand building activity is timed and planned in tune with what is happening in the market and our customers’ needs and wants, supporting BCS in achieving its brand growth and business objectives.
- Responsible for monitoring latest marketing trends and channels and recommending new and innovative ways to engage key audiences with our brand.
- Maintain and grow brand affiliations and partnerships to increase attraction, awareness, and perceived relevance. Negotiate and manage sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- Lead the delivery of the events strategy and growth of flagship events to ensure they effectively communicate the BCS brand and engage our communities while delivering against key business objectives and ROI.
- Develop strong working relationships with teams and individuals that directly affect the Brand purpose of Making IT good for society such as the Digital Marketing Specialists, Marketing Community, Press Office, Policy team, Member Groups and IT.
- Coach and mentor direct report(s) & wider team members on brand marketing, identifying learning and development opportunities and champion best practice;
- Manage marketing budgets, ensuring effective allocation of budget to optimise reach, conversion to sale and ROI with our target audiences to achieve business objectives.
- Measure and report on the performance of all brand marketing activity, assessing against product acquisition goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) agreed with the Head of Marketing.
- Ensure all marketing out puts are in compliance with: UK GDPR, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA) and CAP Code.
Who are we looking for?

Bachelor's degree in Marketing or post graduate marketing qualification, or a related field.

Membership of Professional Body (e.g. CIM, IDM) or equivalent

Professional qualification in marketing (CIM)
- Proven experience in a brand/ marketing role
- Proven track record of success in managing effective marketing communications and in marketing planning
- Proven experience of delivering project goals, and identifying communication channels that work for specific business objectives as well as targeting defined key audiences
- Practical experience of cost/budget control
- Proven experience of leading and managing small teams
- Strongly customer focused
- Positive, confident, self-sufficient and creative
- Excellent communication skills, ability to build and maintain successful working relationships internally and externally at all levels
- Exceptional planning and organisation skills
- Ability to work to timescales and under pressure
- Presentation skills
- Knows how to use social media channels for effective campaign planning
- Able to analyse data and produce marketing plans
- Strong negotiation skills
- Efficient and reliable
- Ability to prioritise and to cope with conflicting demands
- Up to date with new media, techniques and marketing developments
- Understanding of relevant legislation around Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, Advertising Standards Codes of practice, Cookie Law etc
- There is occasional requirement for out of hours working, travel and overnight stays
- There may also be an occasional requirement for manual handling – including erecting display stands and lifting, packing and unpacking boxes.
