We are looking for a Creative Designer to join our Creative Services team, in a permanent capacity, working full-time at our Swindon offices located in the town centre on key transport links.

About the role

This role acts as part of our in-house creative design team responsible for designing print and digital solutions in support of our brand, marketing activity and strategic objectives. The post-holder will work on multiple design projects and creative tasks working closely with stakeholders to ensure delivery to brief and high-quality output in accordance with our brand guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conceptualise and create visual solutions for our brand. Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts;
  • Create design solutions across a wide range of media including digital marketing, campaigns, social and outdoor;
  • Create and manage templates / filters / artwork files for marketing literature, advertisements, reports and online creative assets (e.g. imagery for social media and our website);
  • Liaises closely with the marketing team (and wider business stakeholders where appropriate) to present proposed solutions, review feedback and make adjustments/amends as required. Supports the marketing group in making modifications and adjustments to our existing marketing collateral and creative assets;
  • Supports the briefing of external suppliers / agencies for outsourced services including design and printing. Liaises with external suppliers/agencies to ensure quality of work fits our standards, guidelines and expectations.
  • Sources cost-effective imagery and supporting creative assets to agreed budgets. Manages our library subscriptions, our inventory of externally sourced assets and develops processes for ensuring correct rights usage and licensing of externally sourced assets;
  • Responsible for ensuring outputs are compliant and within the set design system and brand guidelines;
  • Responsible for our design system and contributing to the evolution and development of our brand guidelines;
  • Works closely with our UX practice to create UI design in support of our websites, digital platforms and online customer experience. Includes ideation, concepting, motion/animation design and working end-to-end through the design process;
  • Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager / Divisional Director;

Who are we looking for?

Education and qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • GCSE A-C in English or equivalent
  • Demonstrable graphic design experience (preferably in a graphic studio, advertising agency, or in-house creative department)
  • Demonstrable digital & print graphic design skills with a strong portfolio which illustrates a range of creative work from a variety of disciplines, digital and print
  • UI Design experience
  • Video editing / story boarding experience

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (with a specific focus in InDesign and Photoshop)

  • Strong technical design skills – using appropriate tools and methods to produce great outputs
  • Ability to receive and translate a brief into creative design solutions
  • Good communication and listening skills

  • Good under pressure and working to tight deadlines across multiple priorities

  • Up to date with industry leading software and technologies (in particular Figma, Miro, Asana (or other PM / resourcing tools) the Adobe product stack of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop etc)
  • Highly proficient in all design aspects, including layouts and template work
  • Knowledge of pre-press printing processes an advantage – e.g. PDF for print, pre-flighting etc
  • Strong skills in photographic retouching and image manipulation
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Good awareness of the marketing communication mix
  • Appreciation and familiarity of design best practices and what makes for good design across various media (web, social media, print etc)
  • Knowledge of print management and export settings and experience signing off proofs
Special conditions
  • Some travel in the UK to meet with external creative agencies may be required from time to time
