This senior leadership role combines digital product management, experience design, marketing and eCommerce strategy. In partnership with Product, Marketing, Technology and Transformation teams, the role holder will shape the end-to-end digital ecosystem — from our website and membership portal to our learning, certification and registration journeys — to create seamless, inclusive, and commercially effective experiences that advance BCS’ mission to make tech good for society.
The role holder is responsible for the strategy, design, and delivery of BCS’s digital products and experiences — ensuring they inspire, engage, and empower members, learners, and partners. This role is responsible for generating revenues through BCS’ website and digital marketing channels and will therefore have ecommerce and digital marketing experience, able to demonstrate commercial success.
The role holder will be the strategic owner of all (digital) customer journeys from awareness to consideration, purchase, retention, and advocacy and will champion a data-informed, member-centric approach to digital innovation—modernising how BCS delivers value.
In the first instance this role will prioritise the BCS website, member portal (MyBCS) and digital community platform. The role holder will also play a central role by partnering with Technology, Data and Marketing teams to shape and develop BCS’ marketing automation, CRM and data
driven engagement strategies.
Role responsibilities:
Digital strategy & leadership
- Define and execute the digital product, experience, commerce and engagement strategy in partnership with the commercial product and technology teams and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise technology architecture and member needs.
- Lead a cross-functional roadmap covering membership, learning, and certification platforms, as well as eCommerce and self-service journeys in collaboration with the commercial product, project management and technology teams.
- Champion digital transformation and customer-centric innovation across all digital channels.
- Partner with senior leaders to integrate digital initiatives into broader business and engagement strategies.
Digital product management
- Oversee the definition, design, and lifecycle management of BCS’ core digital products, including the website, member portal, LMS, and online store.
- Manage product roadmaps, feature prioritisation, and agile delivery in partnership with technology, engineering and transformation teams.
- Ensure all platform experiences are continuously improved through analytics and user feedback.
- Manage key digital agency and content partners; and partner with technology to manage platform partners. Digital experience & design
- Lead UX/UI design and digital content strategy to ensure intuitive, accessible, and brand-aligned experiences.
- Map and optimise user journeys for members, learners, and corporate partners —from discovery to renewal.
- Drive accessibility compliance (WCAG) and inclusive design practices across all platforms.
- Promote a consistent digital design system and member-first culture.
eCommerce & conversion
- Own the performance of BCS’s eCommerce and online revenue channels, including membership acquisition, renewals, and course or certification purchases.
- Optimise conversion funnels, checkout experiences, and personalised marketing journeys.
- Lead on and collaborate with Marketing and Data teams on SEO, SEM, and digital merchandising.
- Use analytics and experimentation (A/B testing) to improve conversion rates, retention, and lifetime value.
Data, insight & optimization
- Establish KPIs and track performance across engagement, satisfaction (CSAT/NPS), conversion, and retention.
- Leverage analytics platforms and dashboards to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide regular performance reports and insights to executive leadership.
Leadership & collaboration
- Lead and mentor a small digital experience team and be the cross functional leader of a matrix team of product managers, transformation programme managers and technologists.
- Foster a collaborative, agile, and innovation-driven culture.
- Build strong relationships across Membership, Marketing, Product, Technology and Transformation functions to deliver cohesive, impactful experiences.
Who are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, digital strategy or related field.
- Proven success leading multi-platform digital initiatives in membership, education, or nonprofit environments.
- Deep understanding of digital ecosystems including CMS, CRM, LMS, and eCommerce platforms.
- 10+ years of experience in digital product management, UX leadership, or digital commerce roles.
- Experience with agile methodologies, data-driven optimisation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strategic thinker with a strong blend of commercial, technical, and creative acumen.
- Expertise in UX design, digital engagement, and conversion optimisation.
- Data-driven decision-maker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
- Some travel in the UK/internationally with the occasional overnight stay and out of hours working, including attending events and presentations
