The New Business Associate plays a vital role in driving growth for the organisation by supporting the New Business Sales team to build a high-quality pipeline of opportunities.
This role is focused on researching potential customers, generating and qualifying leads, and booking initial meetings for Business Development Managers (BDMs).
Alongside lead generation, the role provides essential administrative and coordination support to ensure the team operates efficiently, freeing up BDMs to concentrate on progressing and closing opportunities.
Role responsibilities:
Pipeline & Lead Generation
- Research target markets, sectors, and organisations to identify potential customers.
- Generate new leads through outbound activity (email, phone, LinkedIn and other channels).
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads against agreed criteria before passing to BDMs.
- Book discovery calls and introductory meetings for BDMs with qualified prospects.
- Maintain accurate lead and opportunity data in Salesforce to support reporting and forecasting.
Sales Campaign Support
- Support the delivery of new business campaigns (e.g. email sequences, event follow-ups, marketing hand-offs).
- Work closely with Marketing to convert campaign responses into qualified opportunities.
- Track and report on campaign performance and pipeline health.
Team & Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the New Business Sales team, including preparing reports, presentations, and meeting packs.
- Assist in arranging and coordinating meetings, calls, and events.
- Collate and distribute meeting notes and follow-up actions.
- Serve as a central point of coordination between BDMs and other internal teams (e.g. Marketing, Account Management, CPQT).• Proactively identify areas where targeted support will relieve pressure on team members.
Continuous Development
- Build knowledge of BCS qualifications, products, and value proposition.
- Develop an understanding of customer needs and industry trends to improve targeting.
- Take initiative to learn sales skills and techniques, working closely with senior team members.
Person specification
- Strong communication skills, confident engaging with prospective customers by phone, email, and online.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance lead generation activity and administrative support.
- Interest in sales and business development, with motivation to build a career in this area.
- Proactive and resilient, with a positive approach to outbound prospecting and team support.
- IT literate and confident using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.

Who are we looking for?
- 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English at Grade 4-9 / above Grade C or equivalent
- NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Sales would be advantageous
Demonstrable track record of:
- Proven experience in a sales coordination, account management support, customer service or project co-ordination focussed role
- Experience in a B2B sales environment is desirable but not essential
- Able to use Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Salesforce as a CRM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Organisational and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise under deadlines
- Works well with cross-functional teams
- Adjusts easily to changing tasks, tools, or team needs
- Team player with a collaborative attitude
- Knowledge of the IT / membership and professional bodies / learning and development products and organisations is desirable but not essential
- This role may involve an element of UK travel.
