We are recruiting for a L&D Senior Product Portfolio Manager to join our Product and Standards team, in a permanent, full-time capacity.
About the role
The Senior Product Manager will work with the L&D senior leadership team to design, develop and grow Learning and Development with a differentiated product offering.
As a Senior Product Manager you will be responsible for the creative and collaborative process of growing a market-leading portfolio of products and expediating new product opportunities according to the latest trends and market demand. You will be expected to have the vision to generate novel ideas and new strategies to develop profitable product lines with high return on investment.
You will work in a customer centric environment with a team of product managers, instructional designers, assessment specialists and marketing professionals and will need a ‘can do’ attitude whilst always thinking ‘how could this be better?’. Your persuasive abilities and highly insightful and creative ideas will support your drive to penetrate and build the market for the products.
Key responsibilities:
- Setting the product vision and defining the overall strategy from launch to scale.
- Have a thorough understanding of new and existing markets, through regular research and engagement.
- Understand the environment BCS Learning Development operates within including policies and regulations that impact on our development and delivery.
- Determine product market demands, creating product requirement specifications and establish long term goals to develop the product strategy.
- Build and own strategic partnerships and relationships with employers and relevant stakeholders to drive growth.
- Maintain workable interaction with the market, clients, key stakeholders as well as team members.
- Communicate product features and functions to cross functional teams at all levels clearly.
- Be an active participant in the product development lifecycle.
- Manage product lifecycle from planning to development and address the issues.
- Work with product development team lead to ensure the availability of all required resource.
- Work with product development team and cross functional teams to deliver and develop products that meets requirements, is do-able and sustainable.
- Create and oversee the delivery of go to market support material and training.
- Create promotion strategies with the marketing team to deliver the core features of the product and drive engagement and acquisition.
- Being the public champion for the BCS Learning and Development solutions.
- Establishing credibility throughout the customer and partner network.
- Own and comply with government agenda, regulators, clients and the BCS quality policies and procedures.
- Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director.

- Significant experience and a track record of success in Product Management, Marketing or Sales & Services;
- Demonstrable experience of product delivery;
- Demonstrable experience negotiating commercial and contractual terms successfully;
- Demonstrable experience of assessing the viability of a business case and translating requirements definition and production into implementation;
- Project management experience as a product owner;
- Management within a matrix environment.
- Outstanding research skills;
- Excellent communication skills with an analytic approach;
- Demonstrable ability to develop relationships with effective negotiation and persuasion skills;
- Good command of MS Office;
- Ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly and with ease;
- Team player with excellent leadership skills.
- Basic knowledge of Agile development methodologies;
- Knowledge of learning and development or the building of career pathways;
- General knowledge across a broad range of IT related areas.
- Offsite visits to clients, partners and suppliers may be required.
- Travel to other BCS offices will be required.
- Worldwide travel may be required.
- Some occasional out-of-hours working including weekends will be required.
