We are looking for a Senior Project Delivery Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of defined business and technology projects, ensuring they are executed to agreed scope, timescales, quality, and budget.
The role focuses on day-to-day delivery management, coordinating business and technical teams, and controlling risks, issues, and dependencies. The Project Delivery Manager is accountable for turning approved plans into delivered outcomes.
Role responsibilities:
1. Project Delivery & Execution
- Deliver assigned projects in line with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed project plans, delivery schedules, and task-level tracking.
- Drive delivery activity across business, technology, and supplier teams to meet milestones.
- Proactively identify, track and mitigate risks and issues, including those relating to technical delivery, security or system stability.
- Manage change control processes, ensuring impacts on technology, resources or timelines are fully assessed and approved.
- Resolve project challenges, balancing business priorities with technical feasibility.
2. Technology & Systems Delivery
- Manage delivery of IT-enabled projects including system implementations, configuration changes, integrations, upgrades, and automation.
- Track progress of technical build, configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
- Manage execution of development cycles, UAT and go-live activities.
- Coordinate technical dependencies between internal IT teams, external suppliers and enterprise systems.
- Oversee the creation, validation, and approval of technical documentation such as solution designs, release notes, migration plans, interface specifications and architecture diagrams.
- Support IT teams in the management of environments (development, test, UAT, pre-production, production), ensuring availability, version control and configuration integrity.
- Manage data migration preparation and execution plans, including data mapping, cleansing, validation, rehearsal cycles, and cutover plans.
- Lead go-live readiness activities including dress rehearsals, deployment planning, support model design, and transition to BAU/IT service management.
- Ensure post-go-live hypercare is delivered effectively, coordinating IT resources, issue resolution, and performance monitoring.
- Work with IT service management and support teams to define service transition requirements, handover processes, and support documentation.
3. Delivery Controls & Assurance
- Maintain core delivery artefacts including RAID logs, dependency trackers, issue logs, and action registers.
- Identify delivery risks early and implement agreed mitigations.
- Manage change requests within agreed tolerances and escalation routes.
4. Supplier & Dependency Management
- Coordinate delivery activities with external suppliers and implementation partners.
- Track supplier milestones, dependencies, and deliverables against agreed plans.
- Escalate delivery risks or slippage in a timely and structured way.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Work with business leads to define requirements and support decision-making.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain strong communication between business users, IT teams, suppliers and senior leadership.
6. Testing, Go-Live & Handover
- Coordinate testing phases, defect tracking, and resolution.
- Support go-live readiness, deployment planning, and transition to BAU.
- Ensure handover documentation and support arrangements are in place.
7. Reporting & Governance
- Produce accurate status reports, milestone updates, and exception reports.
- Operate within agreed project governance and delivery frameworks.
Who are we looking for?
- PRINCE2, PRINCE2 Agile, AgilePM
- ScrumMaster (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience delivering complex projects end-to-end.
- Proven experience managing technology or systems-enabled delivery.
- Experience working with external suppliers and internal delivery teams.
- Track record of delivering to fixed deadlines and constraints.
- Strong planning, organisation and delivery control skills.
- Confident managing tasks, dependencies, stakeholders and delivery risks.
- Clear, practical communicator focused on progress and outcomes.
- Comfortable working under pressure and managing competing priorities.
- Detail-oriented, pragmatic and delivery-driven.
- Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation
- Expert knowledge of the tools and techniques for effective communication
- Expert knowledge of the tools and techniques for risk management
- Expert knowledge of the methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects
- Expert knowledge of the methods and techniques for managing stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project
- Good awareness and knowledge of PMO tools
- Strong IT Literacy
- High degree of English literacy
- Occasional travel in the UK to other BCS offices and/or supplier offices.
- Occasional out-of-hours working including weekends
