We are looking for a UX Designer to join our CX and Creative Services in a 12month fixed-term contract capacity, working full-time at our Swindon offices located in the town centre on key transport links.

About the role

To provide analytical and creative insight to create simple, effective services, interfaces, and customer centric experiences. You'll work collaboratively with other members of the digital team and the wider business to ensure that products and services meet customer needs.

You’ll be required to understand the business requirements and any technical solutions, as well as be responsible for conducting user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes in order to ensure a great user experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create outstanding digital user experiences and journeys that differentiate BCS and drive us towards our strategy vision and an improved customer experience
  • Ensure UX deliverables meet both project objectives and the needs of the user, including approval responsibility for UX deliverables.
  • Execute the UX vision and manage projects, including:
    • Running UX projects
    • Set up and execute discovery workshop
    • Evaluate user needs, preference, and performance, e.g., conducting usability tests, research, expert reviews, and surveys.
    • Analysing research and distilling the results into an actionable form, e.g., user requirements, experience maps, presentations, journey flows, task models.
    • Gaining internal and external stakeholder feedback and buy-in, e.g., running workshops and interviews.
    • Documenting the user experience, e.g., creating & presenting wireframes and prototypes, user journeys, personas, information architecture, and reports.
  • Coach colleagues inexperienced in UX, ensuring the understand the UX model, how this helps to improve customer experience and how they can contribute to this.
  • Support the Head of Creative Services in promoting UX throughout BCS, e.g., running internal roadshows, championing UX across the business, writing blogs, etc.
  • Be skilled in, storytelling, critiquing, facilitating, and communicating scenarios,(end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs) to other people working on a product, to increase engagement.
  • Influencing and negotiate with key stakeholders, including development agencies, BCS marketing, product, content, communities, and operations, ensuring we are clear with objectives and outcomes.
  • Understand and map the customer journeys for BCS personas, in order to improve and engage with the customer at multiple points in their journey.
  • Working with the lead designer to incorporate a visual or brand identity into the finished product, to ensure it is in keeping with existing brand guidelines.
  • Keep on top of latest UX methodically and digital trends and make recommendations for new or innovative work methods/technologies to help drive creativity and quality of team output.
  • Tracking usability goals and preparing reports for senior management, to show progress made on projects and initiatives.
  • Writing clear specifications and documentation to assist in engaging with internal and external stakeholders and audiences.

Who are we looking for?

Education and qualifications
  • Educated to A level (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a UX Designer or researcher is desirable
  • Proven experience with Adobe XD, Figma, InVision or any other tools is desirable
  • Proven experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, business analysis or similar role in Marketing or Design
  • Able to produce a strong portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centred design solutions
  • Proven experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team working directly with developers for implementation of designs
