Paul Fletcher, Group Chief ExecutivePaul Fletcher

Paul is the Group Chief Executive Officer and a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Paul joined BCS in 2014 after ten years at RM Education where he was an Executive Director and Group Managing Director of the Education Technology Division.

Prior to RM, Paul held senior management consultancy roles with A.T. Kearney and KPMG. He started his career in the Aerospace Industry. Paul is passionate about the role of IT in education and society as a whole. Paul is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Rob Deri, Group Finance DirectorRob Deri

Rob joined BCS as Group Finance Director in January 2016.

Rob qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and has over twenty five years' experience operating in senior roles; including Finance Controller for the Burton Group and Board positions with BT Mobile Communications, Grattan plc and Zoo Digital Group plc.

Rob was also Finance Director for a national children’s charity and has held non exec positions in charity and healthcare.

Bill Mitchell, Public Affairs DirectorBill Mitchell

Bill is Director of Public Affairs at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Bill was Director of Education at BCS for eight years, prior to moving to his current role in December 2017. His role focuses on the increasing demand for integrated public policy on education, skills, and industrial strategy.

Bill was a key player in efforts to ensure every child leaves school with essential digital skills, and in particular the desire to ensure that every secondary school pupil has the opportunity to study GCSE computer science. Bill will be developing our policy and parliamentary engagement activities, and focusing specifically on our work around digital infrastructure and ensuing the UK has the right talent pipeline for a more independent future. In this role, Bill will be able to tap in to his huge range of knowledge and experience in the world of education and of understanding the critical importance of ensuring the country has a digitally-educated and enabled workforce to deliver for our future prosperity.

Prior to joining BCS, Bill spent over twenty years researching into the mathematical foundations of computer science and software engineering in both industry and academia. During that time he’s been a researcher at Motorola’s European Software Research Labs and also at the Universities of Manchester, Surrey and Southampton.

Julia Adamson, Education DirectorJulia Adamson

Julia is Director of Education at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Julia, was previously Head of Public Affairs at BCS. Julia is passionate in her belief that digital skills generally, and computer science in particular, will become as essential to our young people as reading and writing, and will ensure that BCS, through Computing AT Schools (CAS), plays its role in helping create an environment where teachers are helped and supported to inspire and enthuse the next generation to thrive in our digital world. She is keen on emphasising that there are no barriers to anyone, whatever their gender, ethnicity, background and social status in following their passion and developing a great, well-paid and rewarding career in technology.

Julia is a highly-experienced educationalist, with a track record of successfully managing education technology programmes including CPD programmes, infrastructure projects, and organisational change programmes, at the South West Grid for Learning Trust, and prior to that at the Mersey Grid Ltd. Julia was previously involved in delivering the Barefoot Computing Programme across the UK. Julia has spent eight years as a primary school teacher in Cheshire, is a qualified online safety assessor, certified google educator and is a director of a multi-academy trust.

Carl Harris, IT and Operations DirectorCarl Harris

Carl is Director of IT, Operations and Marketing, a Professional Member of BCS and a Chartered IT Professional (CITP). Carl has been with BCS since 1998. He started his career managing and developing the BCS website and also designed and developed the Institute’s first ever online membership application system.

In 2011 Carl became Director of IT and has led a number of programmes of significant change to our infrastructure and business systems. More recently in 2015, Carl has taken additional responsibility for overseeing our Membership Operations and Customer Services functions.

Adam Thilthorpe, External Affairs DirectorAdam Thilthorpe

Adam is the Director for External Affairs and a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Adam joined BCS in 2005 as a Key Account Manager and has continued to grow his network and our profile through the IT Profession since then, holding a number of roles before joining the Executive Team in 2011.

Adam is passionate about the transformative impact that the IT profession can bring to society and enterprise, speaking regularly and enthusiastically on the topic. He has recently completed the Advanced Management Practice course at Henley Business School and his early career was with city firms Georgeson and JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Jeremy Barlow, Director of StandardsJeremy Barlow

As Director of Standards Jeremy leads on the development and management of professional standards for BCS. These standards currently include the BCS-owned Chartered IT Professional (CITP) and Registered IT Technician (RITTech) as well as other licenced standards such as Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Jeremy has been at BCS since 2003 and has previously managed the development of some of BCS’ leading qualifications and managed relationships with key stakeholders in the qualification sector. More recently Jeremy led a number of high profile projects within the BCS Academy of Computing before moving on to the role of Director of Standards in August 2015.

Lucy Ireland, Deputy CEO of BCS L&DLucy Ireland

Lucy is Managing Director of BCS Learning & Development Ltd.

Lucy is responsible for the delivery of world class standards in certification and education for the IT and digital industries.

An astute, insightful and down-to-earth business woman, Lucy has been a learning and development professional since 1993 and brings clarity to the complexities of the training sector.
