About the speaker

Tom emigrated from Hollywood to Hampstead in 1956 - at 15 years of age, and went to William Ellis Grammar School. After meeting his future wife in London, he immigrated to Norway in 1958 and landed a job with IBM, as punched card machine operator. He also studied social sciences for 10 years at University of Oslo, while working full time. In 1960 he started his own consultancy, which has not laid him off since. In the 1970’s some of the older garde might remember his ‘Gilb’s Mythodology’ in Computer Weekly (144 columns), including the earliest ‘Agile’ ideas, ‘Evolutionary Project Management’ (‘Evo’).
