Russ Miles

This talk by Russ Miles, author and cloud market broker, will take you through the risks and rewards of the emerging cloud market. Using real-world stories and demonstrations from the perspective of the cloud consumer who wants to harness the cost and technical flexibility of the cloud for their mission critical applications and other assets, this talk will show you how to prepare for and work the cloud market to your best advantage both strategically and tactically, including:

  • How to turn your application, or even just an idea, into a cloud-ready asset to be serviced by the cloud market.
  • How to navigate the myriad financial and technical options that the cloud market provides.
  • How to build up and manage a portfolio of cloud market securities that underpin your cloud assets.
  • How monitor and trade your securities according to market and requirement changes.
  • How to build 'exotic' portfolios that manage the risk of business-critical assets that need levels of business continuity and service just not possible from either a personally hosted data centre or a single cloud provider.

Told from the joint perspectives of the large enterprise organisation and the small lean startup, this talk will show you how to balance the risks and rewards of effectively moving to the cloud.
