I was interested to read a comment to one of my previous blogs - IT Training - IT or HR? about what constitutes IT Training.

The commenter suggests it could be:-

  1. User training
  2. The training of IT professionals in:-

a) things to do with the organisation they work in, or

b) IT skills

It is an interesting distinction to make and I think confirms why the water is always so muddy around IT training. I believe that the label 'IT Training' in itself doesn't help because the IT - the system - is only part of what makes organisations work The process element, which is more about people - both users and IT professionals, is what makes the systems really effective. No wonder IT Training Professionals get some bad press - we appear to be confused about what we do and who we do it with!
