  • “But we’re only a small business” - so is Boomerang Video. They’ve just been fined £60,000 for breaches of existing legislation...
  • “It won’t affect the UK because of Brexit” - Government has confirmed that it starts May 2018 regardless of Brexit.
  • “Well, can we just add some boilerplate to our Terms and Conditions?” - no, the new law brings specific requirements for handling data. To comply you'll need to make real changes.
  • “...OK, so what practical steps do we need to take?”

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is coming and there's also a new data protection bill, the ePrivacy directive. The extent of the reform means that many businesses don’t know where to start. This session will provide you with a practical approach to compliance. We will look at governance of data protection in your organisation, processes you need in place to deal with the various Subject Access Requests and  the underpinning data audit you need to start with.

Join BCS Entrepreneurs Group at this Tech Mentoring Monday event. Legal and technical experts come together to discuss GDPR from the Entrepreneur and Startup perspective.
