Speaker:
Philippa Thomas, Managing Director, Skills Shift Ltd

Details:

Up until fairly recently, “soft” skills didn’t feature much - if at all - in professional project management methodologies and qualifications. Indeed, as IS project managers, we felt it was our job to focus on facts, data and logic; emotions didn’t have a role in our world! But times have changed.

Research has repeatedly shown that the ability to use emotions and manage our responses to them effectively is in fact a mission-critical competence for a project manager. Why? It helps us to make better decisions, and to collaborate, motivate and influence.

The good news is that unlike your IQ which is innate, EQ can be consciously developed and there are practical tools to help us.

In this interactive talk, we will explore how you can develop your ability to harness and use the power of emotions to improve the outcomes of your IS projects. And as importantly, consider the reasons why you should.
