Even the general public talks about Cyber Security nowadays. However, the skill gap is widening as cyber crime is growing rapidly as sophisticated, targeted attacks flood in from heavily funded diverse organised sources. Although there are some initiatives - governments, educational institutions, and industries are working in closer partnership - bridging the gap between the cyber security education and industry need is still lacking.

Almost every higher education institute have Cyber Security courses and there are many professional certification courses offered by reputed organisations. A world-wide online survey, held by ISACA and RSA Conference earlier this year, revealed that 82% of organisations participating in the survey expect to be attacked in 2015, yet they are relying on largely unqualified IT staff who are unable to handle the complex threats or fully understand their business. It also revealed that more than 35% organizations are unable to fill open positions. We are now nearly at the end of 2015, we have seen many damaging cyber attacks worldwide.

The majority of Higher Education Institutes share the desire to provide the skills that industry requires, but face the serious challenge of reaching the industry experts and business environments. In this conference we bring in experts from industry and academia to discuss ways and means of reducing the Cyber Security skill gap.
