Chris Palow and Ben Mathews


Chris Palow and Ben Mathews from Facebook will outline the current threat landscape of social engineering and hacker attacks on websites and what you can do to prevent them.

Chris Palow leads an engineering team at Facebook focused on spam prevention and promoting user trust. Over the past four and a half years Chris has focused on stopping abuse on Facebook from phishing, fake accounts, malware, and various other scams through innovative detection and response systems. Chris graduated with a BS & MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Ben Mathews works on the Security Infrastructure team at Facebook. He builds tools to detect security problems, develops libraries that make it easier to write safe code, and makes the codebase safe by default. He also developed a framework for reliably deleting user accounts and all of their data. He graduated with a BSc in Physics from Caltech.
