BCS and IIBA sign Memorandum of Understanding

With the aim of establishing Business Analysis (BA) as a global profession and discipline, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement allows for greater collaboration between the two organisations.

Jon Buttriss, CEO, BCS Learning & Development Ltd, part of the Institute, said: “We are looking forward to working together with IIBA. There is much we want to accomplish and we will be focusing our attention and energy on taking Business Analysis to the next level - as a recognised discipline.

“We see a mutual benefit to co-operating and supporting each other’s efforts for the greater benefit of the Business Analysis community. This agreement will give us many opportunities to share expertise and resources.”

The MoU will see the two organisations collaborate to:

  • Develop and support  Business Analysis as a globally recognised profession and discipline
  • Promote the value of Business Analysis, the role of the Business Analysis professional and recognised certifications to benefit the Business Analysis profession
  • Influence industry and government bodies for mutual benefit and the establishment of a recognised practice of Business Analysis

Stephen Ashworth, IIBA President and CEO added: “Our agreement will help to better serve the growing field of Business Analysis and showcase an increasing recognition of the profile and value for business analysis and the role it plays in helping organizations achieve greater business outcomes. Together, we will focus on standards of quality and distinction as well as working towards developing gold standards in this area.”
