Zurich Insurance plc is hosting a BCS sponsored event discussing the role of Women in IT and factors impacting recruitment within the IT industry.

About the speakers

Adam Thilthorpe, BCS Professionalism Director, will be speaking about how BCS is here to make IT good for society; through excellence in capability, thought leadership and building communities.

This will be followed by a Question Time debate where audience members can pose questions to our esteemed panel of prominent women working within local companies in technical roles:-

Lisa Woodall
Lisa Woodall is Zurich’s Head of Strategy, Architecture and Governance in our Operations & Technology Dept. Lisa joined Zurich 22 years ago as a graduate and over the years has worked in various areas of the business in transformation & architecture roles. IT and operational expert with significant experience in IT/Business architecture and account management, offshoring, outsourcing, programme management and business analysis.

Lisa enjoys researching and developing IT and Business strategies, working with executives at all levels, developing strategic themes, exploring operational transformation and IT business model options, and turning agreed recommendations into achievable plans.

Michelle Shakesheff
Michelle Shakesheff has ten years’ experience leading BA teams in the financial services and automotive industries and is currently Head of Business Analysis at Zurich Insurance plc. Michelle is a longstanding member of the BA Manager Forum, and is a member of several BCS Business Analysis certification product development panels. She recently achieved the BCS Chartered IT Professional award. Michelle has a passion for building BA teams and improving the capability and recognition of business analysts.

Chloe Adams
Chloe Adams was an Intern at Zurich Insurance in the Technology and Operations department and is currently in her third year of university at Southampton University studying Computer Science. She's currently the treasurer for a society called ECSWomen which aims to bring exposure and opportunities to women in the Electronics and Computer Science department.

Saffron House
Saffron House is a Senior Business Analyst working in the Digital Engineering Dept of the Ordnance Survey based in Southampton. Saffron has been working with colleagues to set up a Women in IT Network group within the Ordnance Survey where she has worked since 2006 leading a small team. In 2014 she presented on Agile practices at the European Conference in Business Analysis and became professional mentor for IIBA UK earlier this year.

Maria Bridgeman
Maria Bridgeman is an IT Programme Manager with 20 years’ experience in the IT industry. She has worked with clients in both the Corporate and SME sectors. Maria is Prince 2, MSP and Black Belt Lean Six Sigma accredited. Her knowledge of IT delivery, combined with her great enthusiasm and good-humour, have contributed to the delivery of many successful projects.

Light refreshments will be provided on arrival at 18:00 hrs with networking until event commences at 19:00 hrs sharp.
