Speaker: Martin de Heaver

Synopsis:

7.00 Food and Drink

7.30 Meeting, finish by 9.00.

How can we really anticipate and prepare for the impact of AI ? The ORBIT has been set up to help ICT researchers do exactly that. ORBIT The Observatory for Responsible Research and Innovation is a project run by Oxford and De Montfort Universities and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. ORBIT helps researchers to Anticipate, Reflect Engage and then Act upon the positive and negative outcomes of their research with the aim of maximising benefits and minimising risk. Martin will present the approach to address these issues in the EPSRCs ICT portfolio including research into AI and quantum computing.

There will be a half hour talk and a chance for questions afterwards.
