SYNOPSIS
Computers have great potential in “levelling the playing field” and providing inclusivity to otherwise disadvantaged groups. Using eye gaze technology, Minecraft – a hugely popular computer game – has been opened up to users with limited motor skills to interact via their eyes and join in the fun.
Kirsty will describe the EyeMine Project, and how it adds features to the standard Minecraft game to improve accessibility. Challenges faced and lessons learned along the way will be discussed.
The EyeMine project was built for the Oxfordshire-based charity SpecialEffect, who use video games and technology to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities.
