A brand new, interactive event during National Apprenticeship Week to launch our digital apprenticeship challenge. We will also be inviting all digital apprentices to showcase their talents.

We welcome apprentices, along with their employers/training providers to a this FREE afternoon to

·        Hear from industry leaders

·        Take away practical tips from an interactive workshop

·        Have the opportunity to meet and network with like-minded apprentices who are up for the challenge

The sessions will inspire and motivate, providing food for thought to help apprentices kick start their Digital Challenge entries and hear from others about how they will approach the challenge.

Workshops and Demonstrations

Social media workshop - Yola O'Hara - Director, Visually Explained

As an entrepreneur running Visually Explained, Yola and her team provide a full scoped 'social media for business' service covering full outsourcing, training, consultancy and social media auditing. During the 30 minute workshop Yola will discuss how to bring an idea into the public domain. Storing your content in one place and sharing from there. You'll discuss engagement and understand why we should consider using seemingly unattractive social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn as well as Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

Virtual reality for a sustainable future - Virtual Reality Experiences

Attendees will be able to experience the latest virtual reality technology as they work in teams to create a virtual space. Describing what a sustainable future means to them they will be able to create 3D models and designs in a way they have never done before.

At the event we will launch a new Digital Challenge to allow apprentices to demonstration how they will make an impact on the workforce today and in the future (see more below).

The importance of the challenge

BCS has a duty of care and we want to explore what talented apprentices can do to make the difference.

This event is intrinsically linked and in keeping with the theme of our annual flagship conference, BCS Insights which discusses the way we use technology today and explores how we create a bright digital future for everyone in society.

We want to inspire apprentices to think about their role as industry professionals, share their voices and enter our Digital Apprenticeship Challenge with the support of their employers and training providers.

Aligned to the National Apprenticeship Week theme of Look Beyond, the Challenge is designed to help apprentices get involved in dialogue and innovative thinking on how IT and digital technology can support important areas such as inclusion, social mobility and ethics.

The entrants will be in with a chance to win a fantastic prize, awarded at BCS Insights in June 2020.

What exactly is the challenge?

At BCS our vision is

  1. A competent and ethical profession that is diverse, inclusive and plentiful in talent at all levels.
  2. A society that is risilient and thriving in a digital world with access to the technology, knowledge and skills needed.

We are asking apprentices for their own 'Big Digital Idea' that utlises forward thinking and IT and digital technology to make a positive social impact.

  • Allowing anyone who uses it to individually get involved or have a positive impact.
  • Focussing on one or more of the themes of diversity, social mobility or ethics and be an idea that addresses the theme to the benefit of society.

Full requirements and terms and conditions for the challenge will be annouced soon and available at the event. This event is open to current and past apprentices at all levels including degree apprenticeships, and supporting employers and training providers.
