  • Webinar: Investigating the Agile Inclusion Paradox: Lessons for diversity in tech

BCSWomen event.

Synopsis

Women and racial minorities are underrepresented in the technology industry, and are characterised by low rates of progression and retention. Despite growing recognition for the business case for diversity, and a growing portfolio of interventions, little progress has been made for a decade.

Yet Agile methodologies, widely adopted in the tech industry, appear to match many best practices advised for building inclusion. So, why then, does tech have such a pipeline problem?

In this webinar Jo Stansfield unpicks some of the research background, and presents findings from her Organisational Psychology MSc research that examines task assignment and career attitudes of Agile team members that may explain the poor retention and progression of underrepresented groups. This points the way for individuals, teams, and organisations to make meaningful change for greater inclusion.

From attending this webinar you will:

  • Gain new insights from research about gender and race in tech teams
  • For individuals: Learn how you can gain more traction in your career
  • For allies, teams and organisations: Learn how to support progression and retention of people from underrepresented groups in your tech teams
