Synopsis

In this presentation Keith will describe his work initiating and helping develop the new About Me Standard. About Me information is a collection of the most important details that a person wants professionals in health and social care to know about them. It could include how best to communicate with the individual, how to help them feel at ease to reduce their anxiety (for example when having an injection), and who they would like to be with them.

The standard was developed in part after hearing the stories of people with complex needs who were at risk of coming to harm when crucial information about them was not understood or shared. The standard will potentially enable a significant improvement in the tailoring of care provided for individuals and is a starting point for the way care is provided, “It is for the services to adjust to the person, not the other way around.”

During his presentation, Keith will also give a brief overview of how those organisations from social care (such as care homes) can participate in shared care records and show how data protection and cyber security is a core component of the IT solutions.

This webinar will be of value to both care management professionals with experience in specific care settings and IT professionals seeking to better understand the environment and challenges of designing and implementing digital services within the health and social care context.
