Synopsis

Tickets are limited, and booking is essential.

Many of you will be familiar with the history of Bletchley Park and the important work undertaken there during the Second World War. After the Second World War, it became a number of training schools: for teachers, members of GCHQ, Post Office workers and more, and is now a heritage site, preserving the vital work the Code Breakers undertook there.

The South Yorkshire BCS branch is organising a joint visit with Sheffield Hallam University, to Bletchley Park and the National Museum of Computing, as a Special Event for BCS members, as well as non-BCS members within the South Yorkshire area.

If you are attending, please arrive at 6:50 am at Arundel Gate, Opposite the Novatel hotel in Sheffield. The coach will collect the students from Arundel gate, opposite Novatel hotel at 7 am.

The coach will get to Bletchley Park around 10 am. As soon as we arrive there, they will start the tour. Around 1:15 pm, the tour will finish (including lunch - which isn't provided). This will be followed by a walk to the National Museum of Computing (takes 3-4 mins) and this tour will start at 1:30 pm. By 3:30 pm, the National Museum of Computing tour will finish. The coach then takes everyone back to Sheffield and we should get to Sheffield about 7:45 pm.

This event is a subsidised event and a great opportunity to visit and learn more about Bletchley Park and the essential Code Breaking work that was undertaken during the Second World War.
