Synopsis
We are going to start off by discussing the renaissance of AI in computer vision and how AI then blossomed in NLP and Gen AI/LLM domains. We will be diving into the concept of practical AI – budget and resource cautious way of doing AI. We will also be talking why democratization of AI is so important for proliferation of AI as of foundational technology into various technological domains. And towards the end of the talk we will debunk some AI myths
About the speaker
Alex Myakov
Alex Myakov is the General Manager for Intel’s newly created AI R&D Software RD center in Dubai, UAE. His focus is on democratization of DL, AI, and CV through products like OpenVINOTM for DL/AI models inference/deployment and Intel’s GetiTM for easy and scalable CV model creation and optimization. Prior to that he was a CEO and co-owner of a very cool computer vision start-up company Itseez (the main developer of de facto standard in computer vision – OpenCV) which was acquired by Intel in 2016. From 2006 to 2013, he served as a VP, Bus Dev at the software R&D outsourcing company MERA (now the Orion Innovation), where he led business development, sales, and marketing. A physicist and biomedical engineer by training, he spent first 10 years of my professional life building early cancer diagnostics tools like Optical Coherence Tomography and Optical Reflectance Spectroscopy in academia and a few biomedical start-ups
