About the speaker

Jeets Aulak

The majority of my working life was spent in Law Enforcement ranging from general policing to CID, murder investigation teams and counter terrorism to working in the Border Force to tackle modern slavery. I also spent some time with the National Crime Agency helping to set up a specialist branch. As a trained hostage negotiator, I spent some of this time as part of the national cadre for Hostage and Crisis Negotiators. Prior to retiring from Law Enforcement, I was leading a number of teams tackling Child Sexual Exploitation.

This is where my journey into the cyber world significantly began, including leading dark web investigations. We also partnered the online investigation teams with the Cyber school at the University of Hertfordshire. Having lead international cyber investigations, my interest in cyber security grew and I took an opportunity to start a cyber security company with a Dr of cyber security.

We were successful in obtaining government funding and continued to specialise. In parallel, I teamed up with my business partner to become a shareholder in a robotics and automation company.

We also developed software for smart metering for Electric Vehicles and moored yachts. I have been operating these two SME’s for 5 years now.

During that time, I began mentoring Academics exploring opportunities to commercialise their research in cyber security, through Innovate UK, which is part of a government initiative for new businesses.
