Synopsis

Ethics, as a branch of philosophy, is a profound exploration of moral principles that underlie human conduct, seeking to define acceptable behavior and decision-making. The intricate web of ethical considerations spans a diverse range of facets and core principles, influenced by numerous philosophical perspectives. Balancing factors such as overall utility, virtues, and rights can often present a complex challenge. These ethical dimensions are further shaped by local laws, cultural norms, and the dynamic calculus of utility, creating a multifaceted landscape for ethical deliberation. While ethics has always been a central concern for humanity, the advent of AI technology has brought it to the forefront of contemporary discourse.

This heightened awareness has been particularly pronounced following the introduction of technologies like OpenAI's Chat GPT. In response to the ethical implications of AI, domain experts have been diligently studying this arena for some time.

This presentation is dedicated to shedding light on Professional Ethics within the realm of AI Technology. It will present an overview of the IEEE's approach to AI Ethics, emphasizing the significance of the CertifAIEd program, which is at the forefront of promoting ethical practices in the AI domain. The session will also delve into the strategies and approaches adopted in various jurisdictions worldwide, offering a brief analysis of the prevailing trends in AI ethics. The central message of this presentation is to underscore the pressing need for a universal code of AI ethics. It aims to emphasize the importance of universally adopted principles that guide and govern independent verification of compliance across the globe. As AI becomes an integral part of our daily lives, it is imperative to develop a shared ethical framework that ensures responsible AI development and deployment while respecting diverse cultural and legal perspectives.

Join us for this thought-provoking presentation, where we explore the intricate world of AI ethics and its critical role in shaping the future of technology and society.
