Discover how XR-based processes unlock smarter, faster, more collaborative production—across media formats Rafi Nizam will present a creative deep dive into several creative works in publishing, animation, games, immersive and film, showcasing how spatial workflows and real-time pipelines have supercharged his productivity as a showrunner and empowered him to realise ambitious projects independently.
This session explores the integration of VR creative tools such as Quill, TVORI, ShapesXR, and Gravity Sketch into real-time engines like Unreal and frameworks like OpenUSD.

About the speaker
Rafi Nizam, co-founder of Falcon & Storm, is a multi-award-winning creator and influential leader working at the intersection of Media, Entertainment, and Technology. He blends strategic leadership with hands-on expertise across creative disciplines including design, visualisation, storytelling, and the application of disruptive technologies such as XR, OpenUSD, real-time and virtual production.
Formerly Global Vice President of Creative for Immersive Entertainment at NBCUniversal, Rafi has also held senior creative roles at Sony Pictures and the BBC.
Through his consultancy, Falcon & Storm, he advises big tech and start-up enterprises with executive leadership and helps transform large M&E companies by integrating future-facing technologies with an agile creative ethos.
As a showrunner and creator, Rafi originates and develops IP across linear, spatial, and interactive formats, with a focus on character-driven storytelling, visual design, and structured narrative.
He takes a transmedia approach to franchise building—leveraging spatial computing tools, real-time workflows, and virtual production techniques to create immersive, cohesive worlds in a sustainable and creator-first way. Rafi's work in TV and broadcast has earned numerous awards for directing, editing, fiction, and production design.
His XR projects have been recognised with accolades including Best Innovation, Best Use of Tech, Best Digital Product, and Best in Augmented and Virtual Reality. As an award-winning independent animator and character designer, his work has been screened at major international festivals and praised for championing new, sustainable approaches to indie production.
He is also the creator of Arteana’s Art Squad, an animated children’s series where vibrant characters solve problems through the power of art, produced using transmedia real-time production pipelines.
