Synopsis
Join us for an illuminating exploration of how computer vision has evolved - from handcrafted algorithms to today's Large Vision Models (LVMs) that interpret and reason about the world around us.
We'll trace this remarkable journey, from the early breakthroughs of convolutional neural networks to the transformer revolution that bridged language and vision. Along the way, we'll unpack how open-source innovation has fuelled rapid progress and democratised access to world-class models.
The session will examine the miniaturisation trend that's making visual AI more accessible than ever, with lightweight models running efficiently on mobile and edge devices.
Expect a mix of insight and inspiration, with a series of live demonstrations showcasing the power of open-source tools - culminating in a spectacular 3D tracking demo that brings theory to life.
Whether you're an AI practitioner, developer, or simply curious about how machines are learning to see, this talk offers a front-row view into the technologies shaping the next wave of intelligent vision.
