Synopsis
In this presentation titled: "When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens:
But Where Is That Door in the Post-AI World?", Dr. Kitty Hung will address the concerns of IT professionals facing potential displacement by artificial intelligence (AI) and Generative AI.
The evolving AI landscape will be explored and attendees will be guided on identifying new opportunities amidst disruption in this presentation. Beginning with an overview of AI's rapid advancements and their impact on traditional IT roles such as software development, system administration, and data analysis, common myths will be dispelled and economic shifts will be highlighted in the presentation.
Focus will then be shifted to emerging doors, including roles in AI implementation, ethics, data engineering, cybersecurity, product management, edge AI, education, freelance consulting and interdisciplinary fields. Practical strategies for navigation will be provided, encompassing upskilling roadmaps, essential technical and soft skills, networking, risk management, and recommended resources.
Transitions from conventional IT positions to AI-centric careers will be illustrated by real-world success stories, while challenges and solutions will be addressed. Embracing change will be encouraged in the conclusion, with a call to action for immediate steps towards adaptation and growth in the AI era.
Speaker Biography
Dr. Kitty Hung has three decades of experience in Tech working in various projects ranging from Central Government, Local Authorities, Aerospace, Defence, Aviation, Transportation, Security & Telecommunications.
She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield. Her role predominantly focuses on business analysis in digital transformation, cyber security, and large-scale systems delivery across both government and FTSE 250 organizations.
A Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a Chartered IT Professional (CITP), Dr. Hung is a frequent contributor to thought leadership through journals such as TechUK, Passenger Terminal World and the BCS ITNow, and she is an active public speaker in major conferences including IRM UK's Business Analysis Conference and BCS industry events.
Her career includes impactful roles with the London Metropolitan Police, Capita, Raytheon UK, and Atkins, leading projects in justice reform, cyber intelligence, smart metering infrastructure, and airport technology modernisation.
Dr. Hung has also served as a Special Police Constable with the Met, supporting cybercrime investigations with her technical expertise. She is passionate about using technology to enhance human capability, foster ethical innovation, and drive business success in complex, high-stakes environments.
