Synopsis

The presentation will cover a briefing on the project, history, environmental focus, key stakeholder challenges and programme of work.

The reservoir is an environmentally-led project that will help to safeguard internationally-rare rivers in Hampshire by providing an alternative and sustainable source of water.

Havant Thicket is the first new reservoir to be built in the South East since the 1970s and is being developed in collaboration between Portsmouth Water and Southern Water. Portsmouth Water have been supplying water to Portsmouth and the surrounding area since 1857.

The area supplied by the Company extends through South East Hampshire and West Sussex from the River Meon in the West to the River Arun in the East, encompassing 868 sq. kilometres.

About the speaker

Mark Jessup MIEnvSc is the Environmental Manager working on the Havant Thicket Reservoir project for Portsmouth Water.
