Synopsis

Following the success of our joint events from the previous two years, itSMF UK, BCS and ITAM Forum once again come together in Leeds to host a day of talks covering practical experience, questions and case studies on ITAM and Leadership.

Once our controls are in and running we may feel that we are managing our assets and reaching compliance, but how do we get to that point?  What leadership should we be providing and how do we communicate with our leaders?  How do we manage ITAM strategically and move ITAM from being a backroom, compliance and audit-driven exercise, to one involving leadership, C-suite and willing executive sponsorship?

Strategic ITAM doesn’t just reduce risk, it creates time, trust and value, and can be used as a lever for cost optimisation, governance, and competitive advantage. By positioning ITAM as a strategic driver of business success, rather than just a technical function, you can secure executive buy-in and ensure that ITAM receives the resources and attention it deserves.

About the speakers

Ann Wieland is the NIHR RDN Director of Corporate Operations and RDN Joint Lead Director

As part of this she is also the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for RDNCC. IT Service Management and ITAM responsibilities come under her, but her background is project management rather than Service Management/ITAM. So, how does Ann understand ITAM and her responsibilities in this area? What assurance can we provide so, as the SIRO, she can sleep soundly at night without worrying about risk? How do ITAM priorities get reflected in the wide range of responsibilities Ann covers? What should we be saying to senior managers to help them understand ITAM and its role better? In this interactive session Ann will respond to the questions you may have for her as a senior manager.

Stuart Dicken is ITAM Lead for EMEA at Accenture and leads the Configuration Management Specialist Group at BCS

Stuart has had many years bringing together ITAM areas of interest within BCS. What are the main “Gotcha’s” that Stuart has seen people grappling with? What are the concerns that are currently at the forefront of ITAM people’s experience? Tracking assets, the role of AI and more. Whether you are new to ITAM or have been doing it for years there will be something for you.

Marida Lotz-Henning is the Group Process Owner: Availability, Capacity, Change, IT Service Continuity, Release, Service Asset & Configuration Management Digital Control, Group Managed Services at Computacenter

When thinking about ITAM immediate thoughts that may come to mind could be: what is the value of my assets, how are they depreciating, how many are out there? But Asset Management (and asset configuration) has a far-reaching impact into other parts of our businesses. Without an accurate baseline, services like Change Enablement; Build; Release, Patch & Deployment; Problem; Service Management cannot function effectively. Without Asset Management, it certainly increases the Cyber Security Risk of an estate. It is therefore imperative that both IT Support Services, users and Management understand the role each of them plays in securing and ensuring your business stays operational. Marida explores these perspectives and what she has learned about applying them.

Rory Canavan is the owner of SAM Charter and is a seasoned professional in the ITAM world. Many people will know him from his online presence where to talks all things processes related and much more.
How could the latest fever-dream of AI and Machine Learning reasonably impact SAM?  Possibly by applying processes to a neural network.  Does it involve processes?! Does it reference ISO 19770-1?! I think we all know that expression about a one-legged duck.

In preparation for a forthcoming itSMF UK whitepaper on the topic of IT Asset and Configuration Management, Barry Corless will be running an interactive research session to gauge opinion on a number of ITAM, SAM and HAM topics. This will include your biggest challenges, attitudes of management / colleagues to the ITAM practice, the impact of AI on ITAM and few more besides.

Our events are for adults aged 16 years and over.
