Synopsis
Overview
A concise recap of cryptography and its role in securing modern digital systems.
An accessible introduction to lattices, lattice-based problems, and how these mathematical structures are being used to build the next generation of cryptographic schemes, particularly in a post-quantum world.
As quantum computing advances, traditional cryptographic assumptions are being challenged. This talk provides insight into how researchers are building future-proof systems based on new mathematical hardness assumptions.
Who is this event aimed at?
The general public, BCS members, university, college and school students, local businesspeople and anyone interested in understanding cryptography, cybersecurity, and the future of secure communication.
About the speaker
Joshua Limbrey is a PhD candidate at Imperial College London studying post-quantum cryptography. His research focuses primarily on lattice reduction, exploring both theoretical and practical cryptanalysis of lattice-based schemes, as well as investigating constructions built on emerging hardness assumptions.
With a background in software engineering, Joshua maintains an active interest in personal technical projects and contributes to open-source cryptographic libraries.
Our events are for adults aged 16 years and over.
