Synopsis
A real-world look at building a SaaS business: development, scaling, AI, security, finance, and adapting to change.
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses are often cited as being easy to start and grow, as they aren’t very capital intensive and should scale easily. But in reality, there is plenty to worry about and lots can go wrong.
This presentation uses a live case study to explore what is involved in starting and sustaining a software venture; being ready to pivot and roll with the punches. In particular the talk considers web-app development (specifications, coding, testing), dev-ops (cloud architecture, cyber security), adopting new technology (blockchain and AI) and then running the whole thing as a business (finance, compliance, marketing and sales).
