Synopsis
The BCS Special Interest Group in Software Testing (SIGiST) Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity to reflect on the past year, look ahead to our plans for 2026/27 and hear from members of the committee.
We will share highlights from SIGiST’s activities during 2025/26, including our events, conference, community activity and 'The Tester', alongside updates from the Chair, Treasurer and Programme Secretary. The meeting will also cover committee changes and elections for the year ahead.
Following the formal AGM business, we are delighted to welcome Isabel Evans as our guest speaker. Further details about Isabel’s session will be announced shortly.
The event is open to those interested in software testing, quality and the wider SIGiST community, whether you are already involved with the group or would simply like to find out more about our work and plans for the coming year.
About the speaker
Dr Isabel Evans
In the age of technology transformation and the knowledge worker one of the key skills people need is the ability to effectively tell their story or their projects story to positively influence companies and products. Isabel is a story teller and a practitioner, a teacher and a listener.
She communicates through stories that resonate with people and enable them to use their voice in their personal and professional lives. She makes technical concepts visual through the telling of stories. She takes what can be obscure and communicates it in an honest and open fashion, allowing dialogue to evolve. Her work is to enable people to become better informed and spark their inner curiosity on topics that affect how they engage in their own practice. She brings creativity and a spark to technical topics that engages teams in learning.
Whilst Isabel has a sound theoretical basis for testing and quality, her own experience as a tester and as a quality consultant provides a practical approach and real life experiences.
She has more than 30 years experience in the IT industry, mainly in quality management, testing, training and documentation. Most of her work has been with clients in the financial, communications and software sectors. Isabel is based in the UK, and travels world-wide to work and present.
Isabel is a Fellow of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. She received the 2017 Testing Excellence Award, at the EuroSTAR conference, Copenhagen November 2017. She is honoured to have been the Programme Chair for the EuroSTAR Conference 2019, in Prague. She graduated with a PhD from University of Malta in 2026. Her research is about the experiences of software testers, including examination of stereotyping, common challenges with test tools, and heuristics to improve the design of test tools.
