Synopsis
Join us for an insightful session led by Prof Owen Johnson, Associate Professor at the School of Computing, University of Leeds. This session focuses on the academic and practical models that support successful digital health adoption, exploring how these models can be applied to real-world challenges in the field.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
- Compare and contrast key theoretical frameworks (e.g., socio-technical theory, information systems theory, and human-computer interaction models).
- Assess how different frameworks guide the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital health solutions.
- Select and justify an appropriate theoretical framework for analysing a given health informatics problem or case study.
About the speaker
Prof Owen Johnson is a pioneering researcher, academic, and consultant specializing in AI, digital health, and health informatics. Currently serving as Co-Director of the Leeds CDT for AI in Medical Diagnosis and Care, his research focuses on applying process mining to healthcare systems, backed by £30m in successful grant funding. At the University of Leeds, he designs and leads courses in e-health strategy and systems design. Beyond academia, Prof Johnson brings extensive commercial expertise. He founded X-Lab Systems, a disruptive e-health software company with a major national footprint in pathology and electronic health records. His impressive corporate track record includes serving as Head of IT for Sodexho Prestige and holding leadership roles at prominent organizations like British Telecom and Thames Television. Additionally, as Vice Chair of the Bradford Housing Trust, he successfully guided a major IT transformation, helping it become the UK’s 8th largest social housing provider.
