Who is it for?

  • Anyone involved in or affected by the development of IS / IT systems. This includes, but is not limited to, business and systems analysts, software developers, designers, testers and those in a non-IT discipline who are seeking to work in a consulting capacity.

  • None. Training with a BCS accredited training provider is recommended.

What will I learn?

The syllabus emphasises activities in the development phase of a digital service lifecycle, linking out to other phases within the lifecycle where relevant.

Specific learning objectives

Candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of terminology, concepts, techniques, standards, frameworks and processes in the following areas:

  1. The context for digital solution development
  2. Digital service definition
  3. User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI)
  4. Digital solution architecture and design
  5. Data and information architecture and design
  6. Quality assurance and quality control
  7. Digital Solution acquisition, deployment and maintenance
  8. Cyber security

This certification will continue to be delivered alongside BCS Foundation in Systems Development while we complete the transition through our training provider network. 

We will retire the BCS Foundation Certificate in Systems Development on 1 March 2021.
