BCSWomen Scotland organised an evening in March with the 148th Edinburgh Girl Guides. The Guides are working towards their STEM badge, so we invited them along to Sopra Steria’s Edinburgh Digilab to talk to them about all the options for careers in technology. Highlights included a business process travel workshop with some fun role play, and learning how to programme Marty the Robot!

Great feedback from the girls included “interesting and interactive” as well as “I thought it was very interesting because I never knew there was so much about IT” . This is great encouragement to host and run these sorts of evenings again. BCSWomen Scotland were pleased to reach out to girls of a young age and show them all that the IT sector has to offer. Watch this space for more events engaging young people!

“The guides enjoyed a fantastic night at Sopra Steria. The event was well organised and relevant, giving the girls a thorough overview of the various careers within tech. Feedback from the girls was very positive and has given a few of the older girls some food for thought for their careers.” Girl Guide Leader, Leanne Ferrie
