Sociotechnical specialist group
We’re a community of IT professionals and enthusiasts who are passionate about social and technical matters in the advancement of IT.
Become a BCS member and start networking with like-minded professionals in our Sociotechnical specialist group.
The BCS Sociotechnical group promotes the view that in developing, using and studying ICT systems, it is essential to give due weight to both social and technical factors.
This view will be supported by a programme of sociotechnically based research, analysis, education and commentary.
The work of the ST Group is founded on principles originally developed in the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in the 1950s, adapted to meet changing social conditions and emerging new technologies.
