BCS has approximately 72,000 members, with growing influence across government and industry. We are a ‘not for profit’ charitable organisation, operating within a Royal Charter, yet with strongly performing business activities. Our ambition is to “Make IT Good for Society”, achieved through our many initiatives, from education to commercial and public service. We are a voice respected world-wide for independence, professionalism and influence.

As a member of the Registration and Standards Committee (RSC), you should have experience at a senior level, in an IT related position, in industry or education. Experience of working at Board level or with governance responsibilities would be valuable. You must hold BCS Professional Membership (MBCS or FBCS), subscribing to our values and our Royal Charter, and preferably hold Chartered status (CITP, CEng).

You must be a creative thinker, innovative problem solver, attentive to detail, and passionate about setting industry relevant standards within the scope of the IT profession. The ability to devote sufficient time to the duties of BCS’s RSC and working group off-shoots to progress BCS’ vision is essential.

The role is not remunerated, but reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.

If you wish to apply or discuss the role further, please contact BCS Registration and Standards Committee via the Quality Improvement Manager at angelique.tavernier@bcs.uk.

BCS is committed to improving equality and diversity in the profession. We therefore welcome applications from candidates who are under-represented, such as women, ethnic minority groups, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ+ community and people who are neurodiverse.

Applications should include your CV (3 A4 pages maximum) and a short 300-word statement to support your candidature by 12 noon on Friday, 3 May 2024.
