Following on from our earlier event on ‘IT distractors’, we are looking at 2 further areas that impact IT service delivery.

Building Great Teams - We have Des Scanlan formally an IT Manager / Director turned Recruitment Agent; who will give us insights in to finding, recruiting, developing and retaining the right people. Viewed from both the company side and the individuals side; he will share his experiences in creating teams that deliver as the business needs constantly change.

Following on from this we have:

Delivering Great Projects - We have Brian Wernham, we a lifetime’s experience in project/portfolio management to share his passion for Agile. Why it works, how to use it effectively in large projects, what it means to be ‘SAFe’ and ‘LeSS’. Once you have the great team, how to ‘manage it’ to deliver great change / improvement.

As usual, refreshments are provided, so come and learn, network, contribute to the debate!

About the speakers:

Des Scanlan

An IT Professional with over 25 years experience in delivering business platforms and IT governance across a whole spectrum of industries. Growing up as a value focussed Business Analyst, Des has always retained an eye for functionality, value and efficiency. Roles later in his career have included Head of Business Systems for a FTSE250 rising star and IT Director for the UK’s largest Medical Reporting Agency. Team building around competencies and role definition together with a natural hands-on coaching style have been forefront in many roles where re-alignment and improvement within existing IT teams has been the primary goal. Des has now taken a surprise turn in his career and set up his own specialist IT recruitment company focussed on the North West of England. The decision to do this was based on a gap in the market to provide 1st filter of candidates where genuine skills and experience can be assessed prior to time being spent by IT managers interviewing candidates. No one likes discovering a candidate who is not as good as their CV, it should never be done at the interview on the client site.

Brian Wernham

Has 30 years’ experience in Agile Programme leadership. He is accredited by Cabinet Office as a Complex / High Gateway Assessor for Agile Programmes. He lives between London and Cumbria and has delivered large scale programmes at Amazon, Sellafield, the National Audit Office drafting reports for the Public Accounts Committee and has extensive international hands-on agile delivery leadership experience in USA, UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Germany and offshore in Bangalore
