Apprenticeship assessment FAQs
Why choose BCS as your Awarding Organisation?
As the professional standards body for technology, BCS is recognised as a leading authority in digital skills and delivery of high‑quality apprenticeship assessment across digital standards.
We consistently achieve achievement rates above 90% and bring more than a decade of experience supporting digital apprenticeships. Since being first to market in 2017, we’ve remained an industry leader by continuously evolving our approach in line with employer needs and regulatory change.
As a valued partner, you’ll be invited to our popular events and initiatives, including the Digital Skills Network, Training Provider Forums, Line Manager Toolkits, and more. You’ll receive the latest guidance and hear from leading tech experts on the industry issues that matter most to you.
You’ll also have opportunities to network and share insights with employers, educators and policymakers across the digital skills ecosystem.
Most importantly, partnering with BCS means exceptional service, expert support, and an assessment approach designed to help apprentices demonstrate competence with confidence setting them up for successful, long‑term digital careers.
What support do you offer employers?
We provide regular Line Manager Toolkits to help employers support apprentices effectively throughout their programme. These sessions share the latest funding updates, practical guidance, and clear advice on understanding and engaging with apprenticeship assessment.
They also create valuable opportunities to connect with other employers and the BCS team, exchange insights, and discuss shared challenges and best practice in developing digital talent.
How do I partner with BCS?
Partnering with BCS is straightforward. It begins with an introductory call with one of our team so we can understand your organisation, delivery model, and apprenticeship plans.
You'll then be asked to become an accredited training provider, we’ll guide you through the apprenticeship assessment approach, outlining what this means for your role and how we’ll work together to support high‑quality outcomes for your apprentices.
What happens after assessment takes place?
Once assessment is completed, we’ll share outcomes and feedback with the training provider, who will then confirm these with the employer.
If the apprentice has successfully demonstrated occupational competence, we’ll issue their certificate. Where any further assessment activity is required, we’ll work with the training provider to agree next steps and provide clear guidance on what’s needed.
