Synopsis
Digital forensics (DF) is the process of recovery and investigation of digital evidence and is interdisciplinary covering topics from Computer Science, Forensics and Law. Together with incident management (IM), it is facilitated through a collaboration that connects academia with law enforcement agencies (LEA) and industry.
This talk will give an overview of digital forensics with emphasis on multimedia forensics. It will also present how DF and IM apply to a cybersecurity Blue Team responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of implemented measures.
About the speaker
Dr A. Ryad Soobhany is an assistant professor at Heriot-Watt University Dubai. He is the MSc Research Project Director and teaches the Digital Forensics course on the MSc Network Security Programme.
Ryad received his PhD degree in Computer Science and Digital Forensics from Keele University, UK. Ryad was a digital forensics and security researcher at Forensic Pathways Ltd, UK before joining Leeds Beckett University, UK as a postdoctoral research fellow. He held lecturing positions at Leeds Beckett University and more recently at Keele University, UK.
Ryad has collaborated on projects with Law Enforcement Agencies and Universities in UK and across Europe. His research interests include digital forensics, multimedia security, computer vision, computer security, machine learning, data analytics, and mixed methods research.
