Synopsis

Members join BCS for a variety of personal reasons, but for most, formal recognition of a degree of professional status is a key factor. However, and to paraphrase the famous scene in Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’, the answer to “So what did the BCS ever do for us?” illustrates that membership of the Institution can bring more benefits than just a string of post-nominal letters.

Darren O’Sullivan is BCS’s Senior Product Manager for Membership. After realising that BCS is and does so much more that membership, the first question he asked when joining BCS was ‘what is there in membership and is it value for money?’.

Hopefully Darren will now be able to explain in Pt 1 of this 2 part series:

a. There might be more in membership than you think!
b. What people join BCS for and why.
c. How to get the most out of membership.
d. How membership can help you in your career.
e. Why professionalism matters.
f. What is on the horizon (sneak peek).

This is the first of a 2 part series. In Part 2 we’ll look in more detail at how BCS can support your own professional development. Details will follow shortly.
