Synopsis

The UK Symposium on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining series is intended to provide a forum for discussion, dissemination and exchange of ideas between practitioners and researchers working within the broad field of Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD).

It is organised on behalf of BCS SGAI - the BCS Specialist Group on Artificial Intelligence.

About the speakers

Marwan HassaniMarwan Hassani is assistant professor at the Process Analytics Group in the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Previous to that, he worked as a postdoc at the Data Management and Data Exploration Group at RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

His research areas are: data mining, data science, process mining and big data analytics. Current interests are: stream data mining, real-time process mining, sequential pattern mining and evolving graph mining. He has co-authored more than 60 scientific publications and is acting as an organizer, co-chair and a regular reviewer in several international conferences and journals.

Giovanna Martinez-ArellanoDr. Giovanna Martínez-Arellano is a Research Fellow in Data Science at the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Nottingham. She has a background in computer science specialising in the application of Data Analytics and Machine Learning techniques in Manufacturing Systems. Being involved in the H2020 MC-Suite project and the IAA Proof-of-concept award, she has developed her experience in the use of deep learning for condition monitoring.

She has worked closely with industrial partners such as BMW, where she has delivered process monitoring applications based on advanced data analytics. She is currently involved in the EPSRC Manufacturing on a Shoestring project, where she is involved in the development of easy to deploy low-cost digital solutions, particularly with industrial machine learning
