Padraig Canavan, founder of Singularity, has been elected BCS IT Professional of the Year 2007.

19th January 2007 - Mr Padraig Canavan of Singularity, Derry, Northern Ireland has been awarded the IT Professional of the Year Award for 2007 by BCS (Belfast Branch).

This prestigious award is made for a contribution of major significance in the advancement of the Information Technology industry within the BCS Northern Ireland Region.

Mr Canavan was presented the award at a special launch held in Belfast Castle. Dr James Uhomoibhi of the University of Ulster, the Chairman of the Regional BCS Belfast Branch said "Padraig is a shining example for all entrepreneurs in the Island of Ireland.

He has demonstrated the need for everyone to get involved in the process of developing knowledge based enterprise culture and contribute to the ICT industry in Northern Ireland. His selection as the Award Winner will continue to enhance the standing of this already prestigious award".

Mr Canavan's successful selection for the award was derived from his very impressive entrepreneurial and business background coupled with significant experience in the ICT industry.

Welcoming the award, Mr Canavan said: "I'm delighted to have been named IT Professional of the Year. The award recognises the work of all of the staff at Singularity who have helped to create a firm that is competing at the highest level internationally and consistently winning.
