Nigel Landman of KanSecurity Ltd. will be speaking on GDPR.

The presentation will include a recap of timelines to compliance; details of related EU Directives including eIDAS; details regarding the UK Government’s Data Protection Bill, and what happens at Brexit, assuming the UK does become a ‘3rd Country.’

Article 32 (Security) and its associated recitals, will have an impact in the field of information and cyber security. But it is not simply a case of implementing technical controls to ward of the numerous attacks, it is much more than that. Consideration must be now be given serious thought to monitoring of employees/contractors; access control logs, web usage, DLP - anything that has the potential to profile a user.

Time is short; those involved as a DPO must, by now, be sitting down with Information Security, IT, HR, Operations, and setting the agenda, before it is all too late. It is going to happen, the Data Protection Bill will happen, and simply rolling out encryption to protect data at rest is not going to cut it.

Nigel is an experienced information security management consultant, practitioner, and trainer with over 30 years’ experience gained in the UK Armed Forces (22-year career), and latterly across numerous sectors both Public and commercial. His work has taken him throughout the UK NI, Eire, mainland Europe, India, Middle East and South Africa.

Additionally, an opportunity to network and discuss related issues over refreshments.
